Picnic at a Rushing Stream

Living Water brings new life –

it’s pure and clean and flows.

It washes over all of me

and cleanses what I’ve known.

On Dragonfly Denny’s journey, she encounters a new experience different from the valuable and important contemplative, meditative stillness of her home at the pond. Now she savors the experience of lunch at a rushing stream. Do you have a personality that tends more toward contemplation or activity?

Sometimes we need to just be still −

let Wisdom come and feel it fill.

At other times a River flows

to carry us where we should go.

In ancient Jewish history, a pillar of cloud and a pillar of fire were given to lead the children of Israel in the desert. Following Divine Guidance, no doubt there were times when they had to stay put when they wanted to move and times they must have cried out for rest when they had to keep moving. Does an abundance of movement, activity, and change typically recharge or drain you? What about solitude and stillness―does it calm and revitalize you, or does it make you anxious?

Ultimately we need a comfortable balance between stillness that can quiet our spirit, and the impetus to move forward with our purpose or mission in life. If you don’t feel you have a good balance between the two, are you willing to explore the reasons why?
