“Wisdom has built herself a palace upon seven pillars to keep it secure.” (TPT)
~
You say that I’m a temple . . . one who houses You.
The Rock is my foundation . . . You build me plumb and true.
The blueprints for the plan . . . of who I’m meant to be
are customized―no copies―a unique identity.
~
And someday when I’m finished
[for You’ve promised to complete the work You have begun]
I’ll receive a name that no one knows―new to even me
written on a stone . . . that’s glowing white with purity.
So help me learn to labor . . . in partnership with You
as I seek Your Face . . . to walk in grace . . . in wise humility.
~
And may my heart seek wisdom
as silver buried deep
digging through rock and rubble
to unearth what’s underneath . . .
commit to daily search for her
as one would priceless treasure.
The riches that she offers
exceed what can be measured.
Fathoms below . . . simple . . . quick . . . understanding
there is wealth to be had that’s endless
and it’s increase is ever-expanding.
~
May I pan for her like precious gold
then follow her lead until I grow old.
Help me sift through confounding circumstances,
press in and not quit, then wait for her answers
receive correction, and learn from mistakes.
She’s gracious to grant . . . all who ask . . . precious second chances.
~
Wisdom is worth the pick and the axe,
though I know surely . . . she will bend my back.
So I’ll wipe the sweat right off of my brow
and humble my heart, be willing to bow.
If I prize her as a costly gem
she has promised to come again and again.
This kind of Search is a lifetime goal
to be crowned with the priceless Mother Lode.
~
For I need . . . not only wisdom . . . to be who I’m meant to be
but to know how I should serve you
and the whole community.

So, do you know what those seven pillars might be? In a messianic passage recorded by the prophet Isaiah, it was written that the coming Messiah would be recognized by “seven spirits”―the Spirit of the Lord would rest upon Him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, of counsel and strength, and the fear of the Lord. In a parallel passage in the New Testament, the wisdom that comes from God is characterized by seven qualities―it is pure, filled with peace, both gentle yet unwavering, teachable, filled with merciful good fruits, and devoid of hypocrisy. The Apostle Paul said of Christ that “our spiritual wealth is in Him, like treasure waiting to be discovered . . . endless riches of revelation knowledge.” (Col. 2:3, TPT)
Jesus told His disciples that His Father’s house had many mansions (KJV) and that He was going to prepare a place for them. Are there times when you feel small in life? The one who takes up residence in the palace that is called “Wisdom” has access to all the riches to be found in Christ―both vast and extravagant. Jesus is known in scripture as “the Bridegroom” and those who have united their hearts with Him are metaphorically called “the Bride.” As you meditate on the image for this blog, let the reality of these words take root in your heart:
Wedding presents pour in from those of great wealth.
The royal friends of the Bridegroom shower you with gifts.
As the princess bride enters the palace,
how glorious she appears within the holy chamber,
robed with a wedding dress embroidered with pure gold!
Lovely and stunning she leads the procession with all her bridesmaids
as they come before you, her Bridegroom King. (Ps. 45:12-14, TPT)
One final thought, in the photograph above, there are six pillars visible. Where is the seventh? Perhaps if you as the reader choose to enter the “palace of Wisdom,” you are actually standing in front of that final pillar. There is a piano to play the “music of the heart” and multiple mirrors for deep reflection. It is richly lit to see clearly―with candlelight for the night and multiple windows for daylight. Oh to daily live in the reality of the wealth available to us.
