Autumn’s Anthem

For everything there’s a season . . . a time to say “yes” and a time to say “no”

a time to hold on . . . and a time to let go (Ecclesiastes).

~

Thank You that You are for me

a quiet, restful place

where I can go to be refilled

as I gaze upon your Face . . .

reflected throughout all the earth

in everything that You create.

~

The Stillness of a cloudless sky

with sun shining on my face

I close my eyes . . .

turn to the depths that are inside

and listen to Wind’s whispers.

~

I hear the Spirit rustling leaves

through pages of my mind

writing in the book that is

the story of my life.

~

Fallen needles speak of things

that I must choose to shed

like last year’s growth of the white pine

reminds me of the scent that is

the fragrant ways of You . . .

I exhale old . . . and breathe in new

a cycle of the path to growth

that leads to be renewed.

~

It’s autumn now . . . leaves dance and whirl

with orange, gold, and red

like varied hues as I review

the things I’ve done, new friendships made

so much this year has brought.

You dazzle me as seasons change . . .

beauty is my daily bread.

~

It’s time to rest and just reflect

and process where I’ve been . . .

what I’ve learned . . . the gold to hold

the orange from the fire . . .

red from sacrifices made

the dreams that I’ve desired.

~

And what of things I need to know?

. . . relationships I must let go

when winter’s cold invites the snow.

Calm the whirlwind I’ve been in.

~

Time to pause and ponder;

what should I keep as treasure gained?

Sort out the things that need release . . .

like leaves on trees that yield to change

wisely steward my domain.

~

Make room for season’s brand new frames

around the pictures of my life . . .

anticipate good things to come . . .

as sure as rising of the sun.
