When we focus on stillness, silence, solitude, and rest, we quiet our souls and position ourselves to experience God’s Presence (Ps. 46:10). As we deepen our relationship with our Creator and that “still small Voice” which is the “Gentle Wind” of the Spirit, the fruit can be symbolized as “New Wine.” Join me in this poem/prayer of gratitude to God, and hunger to go deeper, in that communion:
~
I’m grateful for the kiss of Wind that blows softly on my cheek.
And when I hear You whisper words so gently in my ear
they calm my racing thoughts to fluid streams of peace.
I love the painted sunsets . . . You use to soothe my weary eyes.
You hug me with the warmth of Spring ― in Winter blanket me from cold.
Then You bring the Strongest Hand to clasp with firmness around mine.
~
I taste the sweetness of Your Presence ― savor what You’ve meant to me.
It warms my heart as You respond with poetic mystery.
I breathe in fragrances of kindness, the gentlest touch upon my skin
a joyful effervescence bubbles up inside . . .
I can feel it deep within.
With such patience You correct me . . .
like the bow that knows just how to bring out beauty
from a tuned and treasured violin.
~
Help me drink in all You are and the wealth Your kingdom offers me.
Grant me grace to comprehend the stunning gift You gave
by changing me from beggar into honored royalty.
You paid the price to pave the way for sacred oneness with the Truth.
Consume whatever blocks my union with the three-fold chord that’s You.
~
Let me . . . feed on Manna every day falling from a clear blue sky . . .
sip sacred wine that bled from grapes . . .
an other-worldly succulence derived from heaven’s Vine.
Make me hunger for Your Wisdom like the search for purest gold.
Draw me ever deeper day by day . . . until all my story’s told.
